CHAMPAGNES, ROSE AND DESSERT WINES

55. Alpha Zeta ‘R’ Rosato, 2007/8 Italy 12%

Lovely, light yet flavoursome rosé from Italy; plenty of vibrant strawberry and raspberry

fruit with hints of plum. Very drinkable indeed, both as an aperitif or with light dishes.

56. Pulenta ‘La Flor’ Malbec Rosé 2007, Argentina 14%

A great addition to the list, this is, as you can see by the colour, a generously flavoured

rosé – nothing wishy-washy at all. Sweet, ripe and spicy fruit with a quite refreshing palate.

60. Mionetto Legatura Rose Frizzante NV Italy 12%

Dangerous...seriously, be warned: one bottle of this gorgeous frothy pink wine rarely suffices. Just off-dry, with creamy soft bubbles and lots of strawberry/plum fruit it is a party starter like no other.

61. Lunetta Prosecco NV, Italy 12%

Deliciously light, and gently sparkling, this is an Italian classic. Delightful as an aperitif.

Rich purple froth. We love this style and it’s great with grilled meats. Give it a try!

67. Pol Roger White Foil Brut NV 12.5%

More obviously famous houses are shovelling prices up on a daily basis – problem is

the quality doesn’t go up at the same time.

This is dear Winston’s favourite Champagne house, and he knew a thing or two.

82. Stanton & Killeen Rutherglen Muscat, Australia 17.5%, 37.5cl

Like liquid velvet on the palate. It  is massively viscous with rich fruit.

Grapey and raisiny, hugely sweet with honeyed fruit, molasses again, yet retaining a freshness. Sensational, decadent sweet muscat of the highest quality
